Update on Mt. Sinai and Anthem Negotiations
Read More
Anthem and Mount Sinai are continuing to negotiate a new long-term agreement. To prevent further disruption and allow time to finalize discussions, the parties have agreed to a short-term extension of the hospital agreement.
As a result:
• Mount Sinai hospitals remain in network for employer-sponsored, fully-insured individual and group, and Medicaid plans.
• Continuity of Care (COC) protections continue through March 31, 2026, and will operate as they have since January 1, 2026.
Physician Participation Status
At this time, the extension applies to hospitals. Mount Sinai physicians remain out of network unless members are approved under Continuity of Care.
This means:
- COC will continue to function as it has since January 1, 2026.
- Services not covered under COC — including elective services — are not covered at in-network benefit levels today.
We will provide updates regarding physician participation as soon as they are finalized.
What this means right now Hospital-based care at Mount Sinai facilities remains in network. For physician services, existing COC approvals remain in place and continue through the previously communicated timeframe. Members should continue to follow current guidance regarding provider participation.
Why a short-term extension? Discussions are ongoing and constructive. The short-term extension ensures hospital access remains in place while final details are worked through. Our focus remains reaching a responsible long-term agreement that protects both access and affordability.
Employee Communications You may reassure clients that hospital access remains in network and that Continuity of Care protections continue as previously communicated. For the most current information, please direct employees to: www.anthem.com/mountsinai
Affordability Commitment Our goal remains reaching an agreement that supports both access and affordability. We are committed to protecting employers from unsustainable cost increases while working toward long-term stability.
